LUNCHTIMES AT BEAUFORT
Our lunchtime staff work hard to ensure that lunchtimes are a happy, healthy and safe experience for all our children.
Our caterers provide school lunches cooked onsite daily. All our Reception and Key Stage One children are entitled to a free school meal in line with Government guidance. Their menu offers a variety of meals and caters for dietary requirements to meet all children’s needs. Children who eat a hot school meal are seated at tables in the dining hall and their meal is served to them by staff. All children have the option to have a hot dinner or a packed lunch from home each day. We encourage healthy packed lunches through our curriculum teaching and conversations with parents. We are a nut free school and as such we cannot allow any items containing nuts to be eaten at school (this included nutella). Good manners are important to us and we view lunchtimes as an opportunity to develop social skills.
Our lunchtime staff are positive and friendly and encourage co-operative play, providing a variety of activities and equipment for the children to play with. Children are encouraged to create their own activities and some even choose to run lunchtime clubs for other children.
The Friends of Beaufort raised funds for an adventure playground, which was designed by our School Council. More recently, Friends raised funds for a trim trail around the school field which was installed in Autumn 2019. A new all weather Astroturf pitch has been created to provide additional space for playing ball games. In addition, we have a multitude of playground markings which are designed to encourage active play.
